Test Parameters

Leukocytes Diagnox, test parameter
Leukocytes
Leukocytes (leukocyte esterase, simply white blood cells - WBC) are the cells of the immune system that protect the body against infections. It is quite normal for a few white blood cells to be present in the urine. High levels of white blood cells in urine will result in a positive test result, which may suggest an infection, such as a UTI. Positive leukocytes in urine test may also indicate inflammation in the urinary tract.
Nitrite , Diagnox
Nitrite
Normal urine contains chemicals called nitrates. If bacteria enter the urinary tract, nitrates can turn into different chemicals called nitrites. Nitrites in urine may signal a urinary tract infection (UTI). However, UTIs can be present despite a negative Nitrite test. The nitrite in urine test also provides an indirect method for early detection of significant bacteriuria (bacteria in urine).
Urobilinogen , Diagnox
Urobilinogen
Urobilinogen is formed from the reduction of bilirubin, a yellowish substance found in the liver that helps break down red blood cells. Normal urine contains some urobilinogen (up to 1.0 mg/dL). If there is little or no urobilinogen in urine, it can mean the liver isn't working correctly. Too much urine urobilinogen (> 2 mg/dL)  may indicate liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, hemolytic anemia, or liver damage due to drugs, etc.
Protein , Diagnox
Protein
A protein in urine test measures the concentration of protein excreted in the urine. Proteins, usually found in blood, are substances that are essential for the body to function correctly. Protein can leak into the urine if there is a kidney problem or kidney infection, such as nephrotic syndrome. The presence of protein in the urine is named Proteinuria. A urine protein test is vital to know albumin levels to assess kidney health.
pH , Diagnox
pH
A urine pH test analyzes the acidity or alkalinity of urine. A neutral pH is 7.0. The higher the number, the more basic (alkaline) it is. The lower the number, the more acidic urine is. The pH of urine may change during the day going from acidic pH in the morning to more alkaline in the evening. Urine pH is an important marker for overall health screening. Various conclusions can be drawn about the state of health from the normal urine pH.
Blood , Diagnox
Blood
Blood in the urine is not a normal finding, but it is not uncommon and not necessarily a cause for alarm. Your healthcare practitioner will investigate further to determine the source and underlying cause. Blood in urine is termed Hematuria. Several factors can cause Hematuria, including UTI, kidney infection, menstruation, and strenuous exercise.
Specific Gravity , Diagnox, test parameter
Specific Gravity
The kidneys' primary function is to maintain a healthy fluid and electrolyte balance. The specific gravity of urine measures the ability of the kidney to concentrate or dilute the urine. Urine specific gravity provides information about an individual's hydration status. Concentrated urine will have a high specific gravity, whereas dilute urine will have a low specific gravity.
Ketone , Diagnox, test parameter
Ketone
Ketones are chemicals (a type of acid) made in our liver. Everyone has them, but they're more prevalent in people who fast or are on low-carb/high-fat diets or individuals with chronic conditions like diabetes that inhibit the body's ability to produce sufficient insulin. High levels of ketones in urine (referred to as ketonuria) may indicate insufficient insulin levels and help monitor type 1 diabetes. Keeping track of ketone bodies in urine helps to monitor ketosis when on a keto diet.
Bilirubin , Diagnox, test parameter
Bilirubin
Bilirubin is a yellowish substance made during the body's normal process of breaking down red blood cells. Bilirubin is found in bile, a fluid in your liver that helps you digest food. If your liver is healthy, it will remove most of the bilirubin from your body. If your liver is damaged, bilirubin can leak into the blood and urine. Bilirubin in urine may be a sign of liver disease. Bilirubin levels should be tracked, e.g., using UA strips in liver patients.
Glucose , Diagnox, test parameter
Glucose
When blood is filtered in the kidneys, some sugar remains in the fluid that will later become urine. High glucose in the urine, known as glycosuria, is usually the result of abnormally high blood sugar levels. It is important to note that a urine glucose test is not a replacement for a blood glucose test. A Glucose blood test measures the glucose levels in the bloodstream. In contrast, urine glucose test strips measure the amount of glucose in urine secreted by the kidneys.

Test Parameters

Leukocytes , test parameter, diagnox
Leukocytes
Leukocytes (white blood cells - WBC) are the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious diseases and foreign invaders. A few white blood cells are normally present in urine and generally yield negative results. When the number of WBCs in urine increases significantly, this screening test will become positive. High levels of WBCs in the urine suggest an infection, such as a UTI.
Nitrite , Test parameter diagnox
Nitrite
Normal urine contains chemicals called nitrates. If bacteria enter the urinary tract, nitrates can turn into different, similarly named chemicals called nitrite. The presence of Nitrite in urine indicates possible asymptomatic infections caused by nitrate-reducing bacteria, which may be a sign of a urinary tract infection (UTI). To detect UTI, the presence of Leukocytes in urine is also considered. UTI can be present despite a negative Nitrite test. The Nitrite test also provides an indirect method for early detection of significant bacteriuria (bacteria in urine).

Handy to keep at home.
I got these for my sister who has learning difficulties and often has strong, musty smelling urine. She has had UTIs from time to time and this is useful to pre-screen her rather than wait for a nurse at the surgery, which might be unnecessary anyway.

Handy to have in the medicine cabinet
If you are prone to UTI's then these dip sticks are incredibly handy to have in your medicine kit. Especially at the moment when GP's are doing telephone appointments it is more convincing to be able to say you have done a test at home and get a prescription if needed for treatment tahn suffering in pain whilst an in person appointment is arranged. The sticks are wider and larger than the matchstick thin dipsticks I've used in healthcare settings and the results aren't instant. You do need to wait several minutes for a result. You only get 3 tests in the set but the instructions and colour indicator guide are clear and simple to understand. However, as with GP/hospital dipsticks don't take the results as gospel. I've had tests come up as just nudging into trace in the past when I have been in excruiating pain for days and needed A&E IV fluids and medication in the end.

So, easy to use and assuming the accuracy of the strips, these offer a useful insight rather than going straight to the doctors. Although never not go just to save time. I use this when needed and they give me extra confidence following formally tests.

They work...I hope.
These are nifty little tests to detect UTIs. I used one just to see how easy it is for this review. I am happy to say that I don't have a UTI. Of course, I won't know if the test is accurate until I do have a UTI and hopefully the test will show as much. For now, I can't see any reason why the tests wouldn't work correctly. So, they get a thumbs up from me!Simple to use and easy to understand.

Handy pack easy to use…
These test strips are easy to use. Very handy to have in the cupboard and also to take away on holidays etc. You can test a sample and quickly and see the result in 2 minutes. It’s useful to have 3 test strips in the pack. The strip has a little holder too. Each one is individually sealed. They have a good use by date Aug 2023. The pricing is very competitive.

Quick and easy
You can either dip it or put it in the stream, whichever you find easiest, then wait for 2 minutes for the results. Any shade of pink is a positive test so you would know if you need to see your doctor. Of course, if it's negative then you've saved your own and your doctor's time. The use by date on my pack is end of Aug 2023, so plenty of time to get them all used so as not to waste them, when it's a 3 pack anyway. The 6 pack is much better value but you may not have time to use them all, depending on the severity of your issues. I tend to cause myself problems when I'm working as an exam invigilator by not drinking enough as I can't just spend a penny whenever I want and I never know if I should be going to see my doctor about it, now I will know.

Simple and effective.
Urinary tract infection kits are always so handy to keep at home as you never know when these horrible infections will creep up on you and anyone who has experienced one will know they are not pleasant and are better treated if caught early. These tests are so easy to use, dip them in the urine and wait for 2 minutes, i prefer to use a disposable cup but this is just a personal preference, if the result appears to be any shade of pink this will be classed as a positive test and a phone call to your doctor would best be in order just to be on the safe side, but either way it will give you piece of mind and you will at least know the outcome.A pack of 3 are included which have a fairly long use by date of August 31st 2023.👍🏼

A very useful aid
I had a number of urinary infections last year, but found that initial phone consultations did not always result in a rapid doctor's appointment (neglect of early signs make the condition much more uncomfortable than it should be) as I, presumably, was unconvincing when I described signs and symptoms. These strips mean I can now prove that I need treatment, as the test is the same as used by the practice nurse. Each sterile strip is stored in a sealed container and is easy to use by holding it in a urine stream or dipping it in a sample, drying on a paper towel. and comparing the result (coloured patches) with the chart enclosed. The instructions are clear, the possible results properly explained, and necessary actions to take outlined. This is a very useful kit to have around, and worth adding to your medicine cabinet.

Fantastic in case of emergencies!
I received this product for free as part of the Amazon Vine Programme.I didn't even realise that you could get these! They are absolutely fantastic! In my family we have to catch UTI's quick because they develop into sepsis so quickly - they were able to detect infection and we were able to get antibiotics before the weekend hit! Going to get more of these to keep in the cupboard for the future. We found that the doctors took us more seriously since we had taken the tests and we didn't have to risk going into the doctors under the current circumstances. Absolutely amazing!

Very useful
Getting a urinary tract infection in pregnancy is very common and sometimes you are not able to get a GP's appointment to confirm whether you have one and leaving it untreated during pregnancy can be dangerous. Therefore, I was after something which I could use in the comfort of my home to confirm whether I have a UTI or not so I came across this and I mist say I am very pleased with it.It is quick and easy to use and is a great value for money. The instructions are very simple and easy to follow. It comes with a colour chart which you compare against the test strip to see whether you have an infection or not.It will save you a lot of time and uncomfortableness as you would know from the comfort of your own home whether you have a UTI or not which can then be followed up with treatment if necessary.

As you can see from the pictures...you get 3 tests individually packed. You get to see the instructions on each test but they do also provide you with a more detailed version on how to read you results and what they mean...which is always a good thing. I am very pleased with them. Amazing product. Definitely worth the price. Would advice anyone to buy these.

Easy to use
Very easy instructions to follow, and very easy to use. In my case, they happened to be very reassuring that I didn't have a UTI! (though it did beg the question, well what have I got? But at least it narrows it down!). In an age when you know you'll wait a week for a doctors appointment and the first thing they'll do is send you away to do one of these tests, you can cut a week off that workflow!

Great tests to have in waiting.
I was pleased to try these 'Urinary Tract Infection Urine Test Strips | UTI Test Strips for Women & Men | High Precision Leukocyte and Nitrite Testing at Home | Individually Packed and Bigger Strip (3 Pack)'.These days, with the seemingly rare occurrence of face to face doctors appointments these tests should be a definite boon. I will have to my hand a test result that may help the telephone 'consultation' go successfully. You get three tests within a small branded card box. Simple to do - dip the test, wait for 2 minutes and compare against the diagnostic sheet. The test will show results for leukocytes and nitrites. The presence of leukocytes can apparently indicate infection in the body and nitrites appear when bacteria in the bladder converts naturally occurring compounds. The use by date on my packet is August 31st 2023 - so a fair shelf life. These are great tests to have in waiting - they will be very handy and the current price of £5.45 is fair, in my opinion.

It is very useful to have something like this close to hand. It saves one waiting for a doctor's appointment to confirm what is usually suspected. On that point, unless it is someone's first time, people generally know when they have a urinary tract infection just from the burning sensation in that area and the constant need to go without any sense of relief afterwards. These strips are very easy to use. Just make sure you have a little pot dedicated to collecting urine. Then, simply dip and wait. The leaflet enclosed has a very clear colour chart that can be used to compare the strip against. Why bother with the 3 pack when you can get the 6 pack for just over a pound more? With regards to cures, personally, I have never found antibiotics to be of any use in that regard, besides, it takes ages to get hold of them from the doctor during which time one is in agony. I use Cranaxil from Springfield, made from concentrated cranberries, or Cystone from Himalaya which contains a number of herbs (the latter can be found on Amazon). Get both to be on the safe side because sometimes the body wants one and not the other.

Showed I had an increase in white blood cells but didn’t seem to pick up the nitrates
Like most at home tests these are simple enough to use (just pop them in a pot of wee or into your urine stream as you go) and they work almost instantly. The guide on how to read them is simple and easy and they’re a great thing to grab to see if it is a UTI before booking a doctors appointment. As someone with a tendency to get UTI’s often I was able to try these today after once again having another uti. I found that it instantly picked up that I had white blood cells in my urine (the leukocytes part of the test) but was showing as a negative result for the nitrate part, but I’m not sure if it hasn’t picked it up or if perhaps that’s not always present with a uti? Either way I would suggest visiting a doctor if either part shows as positive. Overall I am happy that this test showed an accurate result (at least in part) and would recommend them as a simple way to check that is what is going on before a doctor visit.

Invaluable if you have history of UTI’s…can actually be life saving.
My daughter has an issue with recurrent UTI’s…so much so that in July she was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with UTI, acute kidney failure and and sepsis which lead to septic shock…we a Most lost her a couple of times…thank god 3 months later she is slowly improving. The reason for my mentioning this is that she had a 50/50 chance of survival which was the result of an untreated UTI…she even ended up having kidney dialysis! Almost 3 months later she was discharged from hospital into my care until she is well enough to go home and for peace of mind I wanted to get a trustworthy urine test kit as the slightest raise in temperature she has to be tested…today I felt they were needed…she did a test and my suspicions that she wasn’t quite right were justified as these test strips showed she definitely had a water infection and the strips very simply show if and what level of infection you have…or indeed a negative if you don’t. Having these strips proved vital and it enabled us to immediately call her GP for an urgent prescription for antibiotics within the hour due to her hospital admission and life threatening situation, the doctor acted on immediately thank goodness. I am obviously not saying everyone will have this situation or crisis from a water infection but these infections can indeed lead to serious conditions. Bear in mind, my daughter thought she was ok…i though noticed she seemed more tired than usual so I thank goodness for urine tests like these. From our experience I cannot recommend these enough…so very simple to use and understand. Just lee on the strip as you use the toilet…no need for a jar and you get a quick result by comparing the colours on the stick to the colours on the packet.

Box contains 3 test strips u can easily use at home to check if u have a urinary tract infection
Box contains 3 test strips u can easily use at home to check if u have a urinary tract infection. Each test strip is individually packaged & u can use yourself by following the simple instructions on the box. They have a plastic piece at the top of each strip that u can hold for hygiene & convenience. U have to dip the strip into your urine sample & wait for 2 minutes & then compare the colour of the test strip to the chart shown on the packet which will detect leukocytes & nitrites in your urine. If these are higher than the regular level then it may mean u have a urinary tract infection, although u will need to get a test done at a doctors to confirm it before u can get the right type of antibiotics to treat it.
