Questions

The ones we hear most often.

As early as 6 days before your missed period — that's 5 days before the day your period is due. Testing that early, the test picked up pregnancy in more than 75% of samples from pregnant women. Four days before your period is due, more than 94%. Three days before, more than 97%. From two days before, more than 99%. The earlier you test, the more likely a pregnancy is too new to show.

Over 99% accurate from the day your period is due. It detects hCG, the pregnancy hormone, at 10 mIU/mL and meets the World Health Organization's 5th International Standard for hCG.

If you're testing before your period is due, use first-morning urine — it has the most hCG. From the day your period is due onward, any time of day works. Either way, avoid drinking a lot of fluid right before you test.

Take off the cap. Hold the thumb grip with the absorbent tip pointing down, and either hold it in your urine stream or dip it into urine collected in a clean, dry cup — for 5 to 10 seconds either way. Put the cap back on, lay the test flat, and wait 3 minutes.

Check the Control window first: a blue vertical line means the test worked. Then look at the Test window. A plus sign (+) means Pregnant. A minus sign (–) means Not Pregnant. A Pregnant result can show in as little as a minute, but wait the full 3 minutes before reading a Not Pregnant result. Don't read it after 10 minutes.

Yes. As long as there's a line in the Control window and both lines of the plus sign are visible, the result is Pregnant — however light they look. Read it between 3 and 10 minutes; anything that appears later doesn't count.

Yes. That's the test working. Wait for it to finish before you read your result.

Make an appointment with your doctor to confirm the result and talk through your next steps. If you don't believe you're pregnant, see your doctor too — some health conditions and medications can raise hCG.

If you tested early, your hCG may not be high enough to detect yet — test again in 3 days. If your period still hasn't come within 7 days, test again. If that test also reads Not Pregnant and you still haven't had a period, see your doctor.

Medications that contain hCG, such as some fertility treatments, can cause a misleading result. Some health conditions can also raise hCG. If you're unsure about something you're taking, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The test didn't run properly, so the result is invalid. Use a new test and make sure the tip stays in urine for at least 5 seconds, but no more than 10.

Three. Keep them somewhere dry between 36–86°F (2–30°C), and don't freeze them. Take the test at room temperature, and don't open the foil pouch until you're ready to use it.
